About
My name is Tracey Platt and I am a mixed media artist and work from my home studio near Truro, Cornwall.
I am self-taught and only began in the autumn of 2015, when I decided I needed a hobby, firstly creating collages and making cards in a back room with limited space.
In 2017, I had a studio built in the garden which allowed me to become more experimental when I began doing larger pieces including acrylic paint pours (flow art/fluid art) and acrylic abstract work. I love to experiment with different materials, not always knowing what I will end up with. I make my own painted papers so that I can be totally original.
Colour plays a big part in my life and this is evident in my work. Many people have said how 'happy' my work is. Why does a dog need to be brown when it can be a hot pink?
My other work includes hand painted bags and designing my own greetings cards. My designs are generally quirky which make people smile and I love to paint seagulls, the coast, waves and mermaids (I call mine Cornish Sea Maidens). Other designs include abstract flowers, animals and people. I usually do a series on a particular subject.
I have taken part in numerous exhibitions and fairs and set up and ran Lostwithiel Art Fair when I discovered there was a lack of venues and inexpensive opportunities for Cornish artists to show their work.
I have now opened up a small gallery within my studio which is open to the public enabling me to meet my buyers.
I hope you find my website and my items listed on it appealing. Please note that the Buy It Now price includes UK shipping/post and packing. Prices are considerably less if you are able to visit my studio gallery in person, purchase and take away items there and then. All prices are stated in the description.
Thank you for supporting a UK artist.
